Fox Boyz Racing and the Kinross Speedpark crowned their 2016 “Super 7” Racing Series champions this past Friday Night, following the Season Championship Night as part of the Chippewa County Fair.
And following three months of events, and after seeing 93 competitors make their way to the 1/4 mile, four drivers gain the honours as 2016 Champions.
Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan’s TIM AHO (#27) captured the Precision Forestry Modified Division title for the second consecutive season edging BUDDY GRAY IV (#24, Petoskey, MI) and JAY PALUMBO (#90, Goualis River ON) by a mere six points.
Gray IV grabs the 2nd position over Palumbo following the Speedpark’s tie-breaking policy.
As for Aho, the verteran pilot highlighted his season by being the Parsons Performance Parts “Fast Qualifier” on two occasions before capturing the checkered flag five times (2 four car dashes, 2 heat races and 1 feature).
KEENAN SPURWAY (#0, Sault Ste. Marie ON) was the only two-time feature winner in the ABC Stock Cars A-Division and produced an eighteen point cushion in the final point standings over his nearest competitor, TONY RANKIN (#68, Cedarville MI).
Fellow Sooite JASON PRAYSNER (#5, Sault Ste. Marie ON) grabbed four race wins while finishing in third position in the division.
The ABC Stock Cars B-Division saw LARRY YOUNG SR. (#25, Sault Ste. Marie MI) capture his second consecutive division championship on the heels of six race wins during the regular season.
The longtime competitor had two four car dash wins, three heat races victories to go along with a feature win.
Rookie pilot in the division, BUDDY PALAHNUK (#26, Goualis River ON) had three race wins, including a feature, while finishing in 2nd before JOHN LOWERY II (#2, Elmira MI) rounded out the final podium position.
JON DIODATI (#52, Sault Ste. Marie, ON) picked up his first win of the season on Championship Night, but used consistency all year en-route to the Four Cylinder Division Championship with 133 points.
The brother/sister duo of BRENT FEWCHUK (#3, Sault Ste. Marie ON) and REBECCA FEWCHUK (#99, Sault Ste. Marie, ON) finished second and third respectively.
