Racing returning to Kinross in 2021; Track gets a jumpstart with 2022 schedule

Not since September of 2019 have the roaring engines been heard, and the exciting local stock car racing been seen, at the 1/4 mile asphalt oval in Kinross, Michigan.

It’s been an absence felt by many.

But with temperatures rising and another summer on the horizon, track officials are excited to confirm they will be back on the track with their upcoming summer schedule of events in 2021.

Track officials released an amended schedule today.

“In reviewing our schedule for the upcoming season, we felt it was in the best interest of the facility and our program to deviate from our beliefs and the original plan we had if we were operating under normal circumstances’ stated track officials.

Normal circumstances would involve the open border between the United States and Canada, allowing the entire Speedpark ‘racing family’ of drivers, fans, volunteers and sponsors from both sides to be together at the facility.

“We firmly believe in the culture and environment we have as our racing family. And while today it hurts and we won’t feel whole without our Canadian friends, we feel it is necessary and deserving to present a program at the facility for our fans, drivers, sponsors, volunteers and local area with the hopes that it will become normal as soon as possible’ they continued.

The Speedpark has six regular racing events planned for this summer along with three special events on the schedule.

Regular race programs featuring Modifieds, ABC Stock Cars and Four Cylinders will take place on Saturday Nights - May 29, June 5, June 19, July 10, July 31 and August 21.

Qualifying will begin at 4 PM with the green flag dropping on racing action at 6 PM.

Also on the schedule as well is three special events including the Hot Shoe 100 (August 5-7), Chippewa County Fair Event (Friday, September 3) and the Memorial Invitational (Sept. 10-11).

Further to their plans for 2021, the Speedpark wanted to get a head start on the 2022 season and announced their event dates for a year from now as well.

“Part of announcing our changes today was to ensure and reaffirm our commitment to our regular bi-weekly schedule we have intended for the last number of years. So while changes are being made for the present, the future will return back to normal next summer’ they continued.

In 2022 the Speedpark’s regular Saturday events will take place on May 27/28, June 11, June 25, July 9, July 23 and August 13.

The Hot Shoe 100 is schedule for August 4-6, the Chippewa County Fair Event on September 2 and the Memorial Invitational on September 9-10.
