Kinross Speedpark Officials would like to notify their fans and drivers that work on the Interstate 75 (I-75) is now complete.
This means that those attending events at the track can now take the I-75 southbound from Sault Ste. Marie and find us conveniently off Exit 378 at the Chippewa County Fairgrounds.
There is no more need to detour, or take Mackinaw Trail to the track.
Thank-you for your continued support!
I-75 reopens as culvert project wraps up
The Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) has reopened the northbound and southbound lanes of I-75 in Chippewa County today, bringing the summer's I-75 detour to an end on time.
"We appreciate the patience of motorists and residents in this area," said Dawn Gustafson, MDOT Newberry Transportation Service Center interim manager. "The original culverts date to the freeway's construction back in the 1960s and had reached the end of their service life. They really needed to be replaced."
A section of I-75 in Chippewa County had been closed since May while two large culverts were replaced approximately 2.5 miles south of the M-28/I-75 intersection.
The new culverts have an anticipated service life of up to 40 years.
