"Bark at the Speedpark" this Sun. Aug 2

Local stock car racing resumes in the Twin Sault Area’s this coming Sunday, August 2nd with the “Bark at the Speedpark” event at the Kinross Speedpark (Kinross, MI).

The event is Round 5 of the “Super 7 Racing Series” promoted by Fox Boyz Racing.

On the track, action continues in four divisions of cars with the Precision Forestry Modifieds, Ken Graham Trucking A-Division, Little Caesar’s B-Division and Autozone Four Cylinders.

Buddy Gray IV (Petoskey, MI) holds a slim 6-point advantage over Tim Aho (Sault Ste. Marie, MI) in the Precision Forestry Modified Division.

Gray, winner of the feature on opening night, and Aho who captured the honours on Week 4 are both looking to chase down their 1st Modified track championship.

Kyle Jarrett (Sault Ste. Marie, ON) is having a solid rookie campaign and sits in 3rd place in the standings with 97 points.

This division has had tremendous competition so far this season, with nineteen cars taking the green flag for the feature at the last event.

The reigning track champion, and 2015 feature winner, Larry Young Jr. holds a comfortable 40-point advantage in the Ken Graham Trucking A-Division.

The Sault Ste. Marie, MI competitor is followed by JP Delpaggio (Sault Ste. Marie, ON) before the Fox Brothers (Mike & Paul) sit 3rd and 4th respectively separated by a mere 5 points in the standings.

Larry Young Sr. enters the week with a 32-point lead in the Little Caesar’s B-Division with Pickford, MI resident Curtis Bawks sitting in 2nd.

Defending track champion Tyler Rye is coming off a feature win back on July 19th and holds down 3rd position solidly with 91 points.

Jacob Heimonen (Sault Ste. Marie, ON) rounds out the point leaders with the lead in the Autozone Four Cylinders.

His 122 points is six better than John Robinson (116 pts), while John Carter (109 pts), Dean Eggart (100 pts) and Buddy Palahnuk (88 pts) round out the top five.

Three of the four divisions at the Speedpark have had a different feature winner through each week of the 2015 racing season so far.

Off the track, the day will serve as an awareness and fundraising campaign for the Chippewa County Animal Shelter. Shelter officials will be on-hand with feature animals while they will also be accepting donations of food, toys, blankets and monetary donations for the operation of the shelter.

For the youngest race fans, they are reminded it’s their opportunity to take part in the Power Wheels Races at Intermission. Moms and dads are reminded to bring the young fans “power wheels” vehicles for their chance to tour the 1/4 mile at intermission.

Main grandstand admission is just $10 for Adults, $6 for Seniors & Students while Kids 11 & Under are ALWAYS FREE.

The Kinross Speedpark is conveniently located off I-75 (exit 378) at the Chippewa County Fairgrounds.

Due to present construction on I-75 fans will be required to follow the detours to the track, or take Mackinaw Trail to Kinross and all the racing action.
