After pondering the thought of bringing stock car racing to the Chippewa County Fairgrounds, DENNIS AHO was a driving force in it’s debut back in 1995.
And this Sunday, June 21st, 2015 the Kinross Speedpark will honour the Sault Ste. Marie, MI native’s contributions as an owner, operator and longtime racer and supporter with a special event - the “Founding Father 75”, including a pre-race ceremony.
It will be Event #2 of the 2015 Season and “Super 7 Racing Series” at the Speedpark.
The afternoon of stock car racing at the 1/4 mile asphalt oval will feature the ONLY regular season visit by Template Late Models who will join the Precision Forestry Modifieds, Ken Graham Trucking A-Division, Little Caesars B-Division and Autozone Four Cylinders on the card.
Time trials are set for 1:30 p.m. with racing to follow at 3 p.m.
Expected Template Late Model entrants include Aho along with the 2014 Tundra Super Late Model series champion Dalton Zehr (#119), 2014 Tundra Super Late Model rookie of the year Reagan May (#33) and 2014 Sands Speedway Track Champion Darryl Britton (#36) among others who will make the trip from across Michigan and Wisconsin.
This event also mark’s Round 1 of the UP Challenge between Kinross and the Sands Speedway in Marquette, MI, plotting driver’s from those two facilities head-to-head in an afternoon of stellar stock car racing.
General grandstand admission remains unchanged at just $10 for Adults, $6 for Seniors & Students while Kids 11 & Under are ALWAYS FREE.
For the youngest racing fans, they can also enjoy the bouncy house and face painting activities at the facility on the night, and all season long.
The Kinross Speedpark is conveniently located at the Chippewa County Fairgrounds in Kinross, MI.
Fans and drivers coming from the north are reminded that the I-75 is closed to southbound traffic at Exit 386 (Newberry Exit) and they will be required to follow the assigned detour, or follow Mackinaw Trail from Sault Ste. Marie, MI.
